About Me

My photo
I love romance and writing it is one of my greatest pleasures. Along with writing romance, I love sitting back and talking with authors that love romance just as much as I do. Since I've been reading romance since I was sixteen years old I am a book lover that still reads lots of books in a month. So, weekly I will also post my book picks. They may be picks that are new releases or maybe a favorite book of mine. On this blog you will see books featured by ALL romance genres.

Shades of Desire: LENA HART

Hello SASSE Readers, over the next 10 days I will be hosting a different author in the Shades of Desire into our SASSE World. Join me in learning more about these wonderful authors and their stories in this boxset. Ten titillating tales from USA Today, bestselling and award-winning authors. Step into the world of some of the freshest voices in romance; from spicy secrets to sweet second chances. Get enticed by your perfect shade of desire.
LENA HART BRINGS YOU...
HIS BEDPOST QUEEN
Athena Lewis has a sharp mind and an even sharper attitude. Except when it comes to “Davie,” the only man who’s ever truly made her feel safe. Yet to protect the only family she has left, she must embark on a mission that goes against everything she believes in, and that includes using the last trick she has left. Her body.

SASSE: Tell the readers a little about yourself. Why did you decide to be a part of Shades of Desire with your fellow authors?

SoD Author Lena: Well, I like to consider myself an author of romances with “incredible love and unforgettable passion.” My heroines are always strong yet slightly vulnerable black women and my heroes are sexy, alpha men who are never shy about going after the women they want. Through USA Today bestselling author Wendy Ely, I got a chance to be a part of this box set and feature one of my favorite couples in the set. It has been a blast—and an honor—to work with these 9 fabulous women. Writing can be solitary work so whenever I can get a chance to collaborate with other great authors, I’m all for it!

SASSE: How did you come up with this story? What is your story about?

SoD Author Lena: HIS BEDPOST QUEEN is about old friends who reunite under extreme yet sexy circumstances to eventually become lovers. The story follows the theme of the 4 card suits (clover, spades, heart, diamonds) and what each Queen of that suit represents. Since the Queen of Spades is known for her self-mastery, I came up with a heroine that best represented that and the story unfolded. Athena Lew, the heroine, is blackmailed into stealing from the hero, David Carrone, who is her childhood crush but things don’t go at all like she planned and she finds herself caught in her own web of deception.

SASSE:  Do you use celebrity inspiration for your characters? If so, who inspired your hero and heroine?

SoD Author Lena: Yes, most times I do. I love to pull “celebrity-look-alikes” for my characters to help me better picture them and give others a point of reference as to who I’m thinking of could play my characters in a movie. I would say for my characters in HIS BEDPOST QUEEN, the celebrity-look-alikes would be Matt Bomer (White Collar) for my hero David, but with ink-black hair and piercing gray eyes. For my heroine, Athena, I imagine a young Aisha Tyler with all the attitude of Tyler’s character Lana Kane (Archer)—equipped with the husky voice, bangs, and thigh-high boots, lol.

SASSE: Is your story in the boxset part of a series? If it is, where does it fall in the line up?

SoD Author Lena: Yes, my story is book 2 in my Queen Quartette series and I chose to feature HIS BEDPOST QUEEN in the set because I believed it was a better start to the series for new-to-me readers to get a sense of my work and it had the perfect blend of sexy sweetness needed for our set. Though readers don’t have to read each story in the series in order, it’s much more fun if they do.

SASSE: For fun, tell the readers and interesting factoid about you?

SoD Author Lena: Because I love a good mystery, how about I give you two truths and a lie, lol.

1) I’m a Floridian who can’t drive
2) I spent the first 8 years of my life afraid of toasters—still not sure why I was, but to this day I don’t own a toaster, lol
3) Over 10 stories published—and many love scenes later—and I still blush and giggle over every love scene I write.
Can you guess which one is the lie? Check out my Amazon Author page for the truths. J

SASSE: Thank you SoD Author Lena, this has been just delightful to sit back with you and learn a little more about you and your story.

SoD Author Lena: Thank you, Yvette, for hosting me and my fellow box set authors this week on your blog! The whole journey has been a wild ride but a lot of fun and we’re all very much looking forward to release day. J
