Shades of Desire 2: Something Old by Lena Hart

Mya wants to win back her old sweetheart--the one she walked out on years before--but Guy isn't the forgiving type. And he doesn't believe in second chances. Will their bond be enough to save their love or is it already too late for them?

Get to know the hero and heroine of Something Old

Name: Zamya Daniels
Favorite motto: “There’s no place like home.”

What does your name stand for?
I read this once about my name: “Creative and outgoing, you are always looking for an opportunity to show your abilities. You are very flexible and likes to feel appreciated.” I think that sums me up nicely but everyone just calls me “Mya.”

On what occasion do you lie?
When I don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings. But mine are little white lies…I hate lying.

What do you most dislike about your body?
My tummy. I have a little pouch, which is why I like to wear long, flowy skirts. I wouldn’t have this problem if I didn’t love cookies so much!

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
When my dad died… He died two years ago and it’s still painful.

Who is the greatest love of your life and why?
Isn’t it obvious…? Guy Lawson. There’s so many reasons why but the main one is that he always made me feel safe and loved.

Pick up your copy of Shades of Desire 2 and enjoy more of these two intriguing characters.

Shades of Desire 2: A CRASHING LOVE BY YVETTE HINES

Ace never planned that one crash could bring him the woman of his dreams. Just when love has found Jaide, her career could be in jeopardy. Can they handle the pressure and battle coming their way or will it end it all?

“What do you expect from me, Ace?” She leaned her head against the side of her door.
Looking at her fresh, picturesque face with her hair pulled back out of the way in a frenzy of natural waves, her appearance screamed vulnerable. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt her.
“Nothing. I just don’t want you under any illusions.” Lowering his hands, he buried them in the pocket of his slacks, fisting them.
“Was today just a ploy to get into my pants? The car assistance, the meal and movies? Did I seem like a desperate easy mark to you?” There was more than a bit of tension in her words.
“Hell, no!” Lifting a hand, he ran it through his hair, frustrated. “The truth is I was so attracted to you, I went above and beyond what was needed to make things right after hitting your car.”
Lowering her gaze for a moment, she stared at the wood flooring and tapped her fingers against her door. When she looked up, her eyes were darker, a natural chocolate. They met his, and electricity arced between them.
“I can feel that there’s something potent and all-consuming between us, but truthfully I have to keep reminding myself that I should be apprehensive, scared.”
Placing a hand onto his chest, over his heart, he said, “I promise I’ll do my best not to hurt you, Jaide.” He meant that. At lunch he’d gotten a glimpse into her heart and emotions, and he didn’t want to see that pained look on her face again.
Moving away, she stood framed in the doorway. “Promise you’ll pleasure me, Ace.”
While his mind was registering the revelation of her words, his body took action. Bounding across the threshold he swooped her into his arms. Kicking the door closed, he heard the window rattle as he claimed her mouth in a kiss. If he would have thought about it first or prepared this moment in his mind, he might have gently seduced her mouth to open beneath his, but his world was colored red and clouded by a haze of pleasure. It left no space for finesse, just an urge to taste Jaide.
She must have been just as consumed, because she wrapped her arms around him and gripped the back of his neck and fused her mouth to his. Guiding his tongue between her lips, he almost sighed at the warm, satin texture of her mouth. She gave just as much to the kiss as she slid along the tip of his tongue until she entered his mouth and caressed the inside of his lip. Groaning, he pressed one hand to her back, and the other lowered to cup her ass. Grinding his hips against her, he allowed her to feel his cock as it pressed into her, hard and demanding.
Moaning, she arched her pelvis. Taking command of the kiss again, he entered her mouth and licked the roof of it. She gasped at the tickling sensation. He sealed his mouth to hers and pushed his tongue deep into her mouth. Thrusting in and out, he fucked her orally, mimicking what he wanted her to understand: that he had every intention of burying his length between her thighs and making her take every ounce and inch of his passion.
Jaide’s body trembled along his and dipped as if her knees had gone out. He held her tight. His plans for them didn’t include her collapsing into a heap—well, maybe later from exhaustion, but not until he’d made good on his promise to pleasure her, and he planned to do that to the fullest.
Pulling back, she gazed into his eyes and said, “I want to feel you inside of me. Don’t make me wait.”
His gut clenched at her words and the passion in her tone. “Never. If an earthquake caused the ground to open up beneath us, I’d go down making love to you.”

GET THE BOOK

EXCERPT:
After a nine hour flight the plane finally landed at Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Jason grimaced when he stood. His body felt stiff and he was just grateful for a flight with no layovers—thank you James Edelson.

He and Robin were allowed to be the first to disembark and Mr. Edelson said that there would be a car waiting for them. Jason had earned a jab to the arm when he advised Mr. Edelson to make sure the car was big enough to accommodate Robin’s entire luggage. Robin was just happy that she had packed as much as she had. She had looked at the prices in Tokyo and she would not be going on any shopping sprees.

As the two made their way to the terminal Robin saw a sign that said simply WOS, being held over the head of a young Asian man that looked like a teenager.

“Is that us?” she asked as she began to walk in that direction.

Jason caught her hand. “No. Mr. Edelson is over here.”

Robin turned and saw that indeed, the neatly dressed white haired man was waiting for them with a broad smile. Robin then noticed that there were other people holding signs over their heads. Some said Top, some said Wheels of Steel and a few signs read Soul Horizon, which was the name of the first collaboration album between Wheels of Steel and Akita Tom.

Robin stared with her mouth agape until Jason tugged her arm and urgently whisked her in the direction of Mr. Edelson who quickly boarded them into a mobile luggage cart. A driver in uniform was already behind the wheel.

A moment later a girl screamed. “TOP! It’s Top!”

By then they were already driving away. Jason and Robin craned their necks at the twenty or so teens that were trying to catch sight of them. Uniformed security kept the fans from chasing the cart.

Robin looked at Jason who was equally as surprised.

“Jeez,” she said, “Did you know you had groupies?”

Jason’s mouth was still open as he shook his head. “J just said that there would be a luggage cart waiting so that I wouldn’t have to try to navigate through the crowd …”

Mr. Edelson placed a hand on Jason’s shoulder. “We have no idea how they figured out which flight you were arriving on. We got Belinda and Peter through easily with only a few fans waiting in the terminal.” Mr. Edelson didn’t seem surprised that there were fans waiting for Jason as he gave a quick glance at the disappearing throng of yelling people.

Jason looked at Mr. Edelson. “J, maybe we should go back so that I can sign some autographs.”

Mr. Edelson smiled. “No, that’s not a good idea. You can sign autographs at the events—that way we’ll have the adequate security available.”

Security? Robin thought, still in a state of disbelief. Jason wasn’t a shooting star. He was already a star.

SASSE is 'Breaking Amish' in Romance with Stacy-Deanne

Hello SASSE Readers, let’s welcome Stacy-Deanne (Dee-Anne) to our SASSE World. Pull up a chair and tell me if you prefer a Dunkin Donut or a hot Krispy Kreme donut for our little chat.

Stacy: Thanks for having me! I’ve never had a Krispy Kreme. I love donuts but don’t eat them. In 2011 I changed to a healthy lifestyle so no donuts for me. LOL! I recently had some after not having any in years and because I don’t eat a lot of sugar or fried foods, they actually began to make me feel sick. It’s amazing how your body changes when you stop eating bad foods. You literally can’t take it. I have a sweet tooth so it can be hard sometimes to fight cravings, but being healthy is the most important to me. Also, I have lost a TON of weight and don’t want to go back to where I once was so I can live without the donuts. LOL! I’ll take some grapes and peanuts though. *smiles*

SASSE: Tell the readers a little about yourself. How did you get into writing?

Stacy: I’ve been in the industry since 1997 when I was 19. So I’ve been writing professionally almost twenty years! I’m single with no kids and live in Houston, Texas. People always told me I was a good writer when I was in school but I never wanted to be a writer until I was 19. I always had a great imagination and loved making up stories. The writing bug hit me when I got my first computer. I was able to just sit there and write down all my thoughts and I started writing stories. Once I’d written the first one I knew I wanted writing to be my career.

SASSE: What was the first romance book you ever read? What was your first impression of the genre?

Stacy: Hmm. When I was a child and teenager I didn’t read much romance. I was always into literary stories and mysteries. Mysteries are my favorite genre so I love romantic suspense especially. I guess I’d have to say it was one of Kay Hooper’s romantic suspense novels. I’ve read so many that I can’t even remember which one I read first. It was either her or Linda Howard. I used to be obsessed with Linda Howard too. LOL!

I loved how Linda and Kay mix suspense into many of their romances and have such deep characters. Before reading them I assumed all romances were like Harlequin books.

SASSE:  I don’t believe I have ever seen an IR Amish story before. It is an original breath of fresh air. Can you explain to the readers about Outside Woman? How did you come up with this story line?

Stacy: Yep, the fact that it’s different is why I did it. I strive to be different and bring something that either no one else has or that hasn’t been overly-done, to the table. I don’t follow trends or what might be popular. I write stories I enjoy, whether the idea is popular or not. I never want my books to blend in. I always want readers to know with me they will get a different experience, or at least something they don’t see over and over. I like to venture into storylines you don’t see in IR especially all the time. I also like to put a twist in my storylines or within my characters. I think writers should always come up with fresh stuff and switch things up.

Outside Woman is about a black woman, Thea, who is running from the law and she holds up in an Amish community. She is taken in by Elijah Roth, who is Thea’s uncle’s childhood friend. While there she meets the allusive Jacob, Elijah’s son, and gets dragged into the Roth’s family’s issues and helps them even more than they help her.

I came up with this story like I do all my stories. It simply started with an idea. I also find the Amish lifestyle interesting and fascinating so I wanted to write about it. I also hadn’t seen it done interracially so that was another plus.

SASSE: I can’t wait to read this book. I have already pre-ordered my copy. Will it be a series?

Stacy: Thanks for the support! Someone else asked about a sequel too. LOL! I hadn’t planned on writing a series but who knows? Honestly right now I prefer writing standalones. I’ve gotten burned out on writing series. I have two romantic suspense series going now and I’ve grown tired. I still love the characters, but I like how with standalones I can jump from storyline to storyline. It gets complicated writing a series, especially a long one. I find myself being bored after a while and if I am bored with the series, I know it’s time to wrap it up. Standalones keep things interesting for me because I can jump from storyline to storyline and embark on new adventures with new characters.

SASSE: Was there a challenging scene or aspect of this book that was difficult to write?

Stacy: Honestly, nope. I enjoyed writing each scene and once I started, the story just flew by. Nothing became hard for me emotionally or anything. Sometimes in my stories, that does happen, but I didn’t have any scenes that made me feel that way in Outside Woman.

SASSE: If you could think of a show readers should watch to get them ready to read this book what would it be?

Stacy: There isn’t a show I would suggest because all the Amish shows on today seem to be reality shows. I would say the movie Witness from 1985 with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis would be a good comparison. Ford is a cop who has to live in McGillis’ Amish community to protect her son who witnessed a murder. Any film with an outsider in an Amish community would be good to watch to get more insight into Outside Woman.

SASSE: If Hollywood called and asked to make this series a movie…BUT they wanted you to pick the people to star in it, who would you ask to direct it, play the hero and play the heroine?

Stacy: I love Ron Howard as director. He’d turn it from a romance to some big epic story like Far and Away. LOL! That might be cool. To star as Thea, I’d say maybe Kerry Washington. She reminds me of Thea with the crinkles, etc. To play Jacob, maybe Ryan Gosling or Leonardo DiCaprio. I’m a huge Leo fan. Since Washington and DiCaprio have already been in a film together, it would be cool to see them as love interests. Leo is a bit older than Jacob, but he favors him and he can pull off any character.

SASSE: Thank you Stacy, this has been just fantastic to sit back with you and learn a little more about you and your writing.

Stacy: Thanks for having me. I appreciate it!

Jacob is just as infatuated with Thea and refuses to turn his back on her, even after he finds out her secret. When Jacob decides he must leave the community, will Thea run from him or with him?

These two bestselling authors team up to introduce a sizzling new series....

Air Force officer Nyree Dawson meets Jeremy Samuels online, and as far as she’s concerned, he’s everything she’s ever wanted in a man. He’s spiritual, educated, and a beast in the bedroom. She thinks the ex-wife is a fool for divorcing such an amazing man, and before long they start planning a future together. It isn’t until after the couple is married that the lies begin to surface, and the relationship goes from “I do” to what in the world have I done?

He’s gorgeous and wealthy and she can’t believe her luck. Only Kaleb has been burned so many times he doesn’t trust his woman any further than he can see her. However, after a while the accusations get to be too much and she realizes the confident man she craved is insecure and unforgiving. And that’s only the beginning…

Peyton Powell is unhappily married to a man who doesn’t give the attention her body craves. The only excitement in her life was raising her twins and clipping coupons until she lands a job at Independent Woman magazine writing a column that explores women’s sexuality. Peyton’s never felt anything close to what she’s read in those supermarket romance novels, and with a husband who’s quick and selfish in bed, she isn’t sure she’s up for the challenge. But then everything changes…she’s asked to join an exclusive club and the initiation introduces her to an erotic world, a sisterhood, and a sexy, dominant stranger who has every intention of showing her the meaning of obedience and submission. However, once the blindfold comes off, and his identity is revealed, her life will never be the same again.

Curling Up in the Den with a Shifter Author Kassanna

Do you hear the growling? If you do, that must mean that Kassanna and her pack are in the room.

Buy it! (free download at Amazon)

Hello SASSE Readers, let’s welcome Kassanna to our SASSE World. Pull up a chair and tell me if you prefer ice cream or cake for our little chat.

Kassanna: Cake, vanilla with that ridiculously rich icing that makes your teeth hurt afterwards but tastes so flipping good.

SASSE: Yum! That cake is making me drool! LOL. Tell the readers a little about yourself. How did you get into writing? Have you always thought you would be a romance writer?

Kassanna: I have always written things, looks short stories, created characters as imaginary friends. Narrated stories in my head but I ever thought I would actually become a published author. My husband took a look at all my notebooks I the closet one day and told me I needed to do something about my hobby. To be published and have readers is humbling and beyond a dream come true for me.

SASSE: What was the first romance book you ever read? What did you think? What was your first impression of the genre?

Kassanna: This Calder Ranch by Janet Daily. I loved that book and must have re-read it a hundred times. I wanted to live on that ranch in that world. To read romance and get lost in the fantasy was is much better than my reality sometimes

SASSE:  Can you explain to the readers about the Pride Riders? How did you come up with this series?

Kassanna: Pride Riders are a motorcycle club of big cat shifters. Transplants from Africa, they are just trying to live like everybody else and things just keep going wrong. I got the idea from watching a Hells Angel documentary and thought what if they were all cats with sexy accents?

SASSE: Are there more Pride Riders to come?

Kassanna: Yeah, Prowl, which is Ari’s story will be net in the series. As the resident comedian I am finding his story to be hilarious.

SASSE: You are one of the “shifter queens of romance” with dragons, snakes, bears, wolves…oh, my, my, my…are there any animals you can’t imagine making into a shifter in one of your romances?

Kassanna: Rabbits, small creatures, as Ettienne and Myka put it in Pack Rulez. If a bunny was a shifter a predator would be conflicted, he wouldn’t know whether to eat or screw his or her mate. I don’t want to put my characters through that kind of trama. LOL! And thank you. I never thought of myself as one of the queens of shifter romance. That made me giggle.

SASSE: What gets you all choked up or emotionally charged in a story you write?

Kassanna: When the villain get away with whatever he or she is doing wrong. I never know how a story will turn out or who the next book will be about. In that aspect you can call me a true pantzer so when I open up my wip I’m never quite sure who will emerge or what they have to say. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don’t but it’s not my story to tell, ya know, I’m just the vessel to get it done.

SASSE: If you could write in any genre that you have never written in before what would it be?

Kassanna: A YA steampunk. I think it would be fun.

SASSE: Thank you Kassanna, this has been just delightful to sit back with you and learn a little more about you and your story.

Kassanna: Thanks for having me it’s always a pleasure talking, love connecting with people.

Delve into the mind of Sienna Mynx as she talks about Nicademus

Interracial Historical Romance

SASSE: Tell the readers a little about yourself. How did you get into writing? Have you always thought you would be a romance writer?
Sienna: Writing has pretty much been ingrained in me from the first day I learned to pick up and hold a pencil. I escaped into books as a young girl so telling stories was just the natural progression. I entered the publishing business after big publishing houses dismissed my taste and writing style in multicultural romances. The rest is history!
SASSE: What was the first romance book you ever read? What did you think? What was your first impression of the genre?
Sienna: I don’t remember the first. I remember the book that was on the fringe of romance that I read which defined me as an author. Chances by Jackie Collins introduced me to Lucky Santiago. Oh boy! I’ve never been the same.
SASSE:  Can you explain to the readers about the The Wild Ones? Will it be a series? Can the readers expect more I/R stories from you in the historical Wild West?
Sienna: I love westerns. There are very few historical romances in the IR genre set after the Civil War. I wanted to take that leap. I’m talking saloon girls, bandits, outlaws, Native Americans and freed slaves. The book takes you to a time period where we owned our destiny despite what the history books say. And it’s sexy, funny, shocking, and endearing. I reached into my bag of treats and tapped into my writing persona that created novellas like Harmony and Buttercup. I crave the unexplored. So it’s my risk to take. Not everyone will love this story but I guarantee everyone will walk away with a ‘thirst’ for different storytelling by us. As an author I will continue to tread water as I strive to create from my imagination.
SASSE: Bring us into the world of your latest release NICADEMUS. Introduce the readers to Annabelle and Jeremiah.
Sienna: Annabelle is a young woman who never knew slavery. Her parents escaped slavery to ensure she grew up free. They died when she was a child. This story is one year after the civil war and Annabelle lives in a town known as Nicademus founded by freed slaves, and those on the fringe of acceptable society. In the unexplored West towns like this did exist. Annabelle stumbles on an outlaw near death. She initially wants to help him. But she learns soon after that his past sorrows of lost parents to the cruelty of the world is like hers. And it changes her. Jeremiah is a confederate soldier who returns from the war to find that his family is dead and robbed of everything. He seeks vengeance and by doing so brings an old enemy to the town of Nicademus. He joins the fight to save the town and falls for Annabelle in the process.
SASSE: What was the most emotional challenging scene to write in the book?
Sienna: The ending with Jeremiah and Annabelle is realistic in my opinion.  It’s not a Happily Ever After but a Happy For Now kind of ending. I wanted to show the complexity and fragility of falling in love during that time period with a person the world said you should not be with. It was hard to write because it makes you reflect on how hard life’s rewards were for people of color, and how many sacrifices our foremothers had to make.
SASSE: If you could write in any genre that you have never written in before what would it be?
Sienna: Horror! One day! One day!

Scandalous Heroes: Yvette Hines Interview

As readers who have seen, bought and read several boxedsets with multiple authors, I'm sure you wonder, how did the author chose their particular story? or why did this author decide to do a box set? or What's the purpose?. Well, I'm bringing you those answers.

Today, I (Author Di Topaz) present to you, Yvette Hines, the author of "Sieged by Rym" in Scandalous Heroes...

I have the distinct pleasure to introduce the woman of the day. She was born in San Diego, CA and later moved to the Tidewater area. So, yes she has lived coast to coast. We met while attending College in Southern VA. We spent hours reading and laughing; at ourselves mostly. You see Yvette spends most of her time blazing the sheets. Now get you minds out of the gutter there will be plenty of time for that later. She believes that every woman should have a determined hero that is on the prowl and discover they were designed for love. A man in her life bold enough to steal the bride, because he knew he had to have and to hold her. Eventually finding themselves taking the marriage clause. I know that seems slightly sinful but the fire and desire they would share, would be as sweet as cinnamon buns with sensual chocolate. In the end her hero would continue over the years to pleasure his queen keeping her SASSE for life! It is with great pleasure to introduce to some and present to others Yvette Hines.

They picked the wrong warrior cat to abduct. Rym never liked being ordered about so when he discovers his freedom is weighed against his agreement to breed with Krysteena, he practically purrs at the chance to prove to the beauty who’s truly in charge and escape.

Di: Tell me how you came up with the plot for your story in the Scandalous Hero boxed set.

Yvette: I can get a romance idea from anything. Especially since I enjoy writing shifter stories. One of my close friends has two cats. They are clever and funny. One day we were laughing at something the cats were doing and I thought aloud, ‘Wouldn’t it be something if Remington (her male cat) was really a big cat from another planet cursed to be on earth? That truly he was a massive powerful, strong cat on his planet?' We laughed about it, but that night when I went to sleep a story was born. I do a lot of dream plotting. I guess my muse likes to work when I'm sleep.

Di: Is your story connected to a series you write?

Yvette: No. It is not. Even though I would hate for these two worlds to fade away. At the moment I have not conceived of a series…but don’t get my muse ,SHE, started, because in a blink she will have started some intergalactic sensual saga.

Di: What was the most challenging scene to write?

Yvette: The arena battle scene. I spent hours and days watching different gladiator type films…especially the fight scenes. I wanted it to be gripping but more importantly I wanted the sensuality. The hero and heroine in Sieged by Rym are not fighting to the death but fighting to have a life together that is balanced in mutual respect and power. They need to learn to give and take in that arena and admire each others strengths. Anytime there is a strong female in a story I think it is important that she doesn’t ‘dwarf’ the hero; that even as she is strong and determined he is not emasculated.

Di: Why did you choose to join the Scandalous Heroes boxed set with these 8 other authors?

Yvette: By now, since mine is the last interview, you have met all the other 8 authors (Aliyah Burke, Bridget Midway, Sienna Mynx, Erosa Knowles, Pepper Pace, Serenity King, Latrivia S. Nelson and Tiana Laveen). They are ladies I have known, watched and applauded for years. Even though a few of them I didn’t meet until last year. Not to say that there are not a lot more multicultural authors that I would not have stepped into a box set with, because there of many, but it was the right time and moment for this group. They all had a heart not only to present a gift to their readers, but to reach out to connect with new readers and on top of that support the other authors with them in the set. What more could I ask for? The best part about it was as I spoke with each author to ask them about coming together to show unity in the multicultural romance community NONE of them hesitated. Proving what I already knew about them.

Di: What do you want the readers/romance world to take away from the collection once they read it?

Yvette: For the readers I want them to see that they don’t have to choose between authors. They can cheer, support and read all of us. There is no animosity between us, but unity. For the romance world I want authors to see and recognize the benefit of supporting other authors. Cross-promoting is not a bad word. It doesn’t diminish you to post, tweet, share or even gift your readers with a book by another author…it elevates you. I have two saying I use to fellow authors, ‘no one is greater than anyone else’ and ‘we rise and fall together’. What each authors does in the multicultural genre affects us all.
